On Fillmore with Jonna Tervomaa
On Fillmore is the long-running duo of percussionist Glenn Kotche and bassist Darin Gray.
Jonna Tervomaa has made an exceptional musical career in Finland including gold and platinum selling records, radio hits, and songs crossing over genres and generations. Her voice is loved by many.
She has collaborated with most of the most important musicians in Finland, including for example violinist Pekka Kuusisto. She has won seven Emmas ( Finnish Grammy). Her songs are critically acclaimed and she’s been honoured with the Teosto prize, which is the greatest acknowledgement in Finland for songwriters.
Jonna’s career began as a child, at age 10, winning the prestigious song contest Syksyn Sävel. She became the first child star in Finland and her single sold platinum.
After her years concentrating on studying at Helsinki University, she begun her career as an adult, creating her own spot as an important figure in the Finnish music scene beginning in the late 1990’s. She has released 11 albums, seven of them through Universal Music. Her latest album is a long planned English debut, Jonna T ”Fortunate Beast,” and it was released digitally on Bandcamp (2020).
Jonna met On Fillmore (Glenn Kotche years ago, and Darin Gray little later). Now these three are slowly making a new album together. This collaboration was meant to be.
